Job Description
  • Completes investigations of great significance to the Company under the general direction of the Leader, Investigations
  • Performs and assists with investigations concerning Steelcase, subsidiaries, and other company interests around the globe
  • May work with legal, audit, corporate security, operations, human resources and government and investigative agencies
  • Administers programs and/or training such as travel safety, violence in the workplace and substance abuse prevention
  • Conducts pre-employment background investigations and is involved in the drug screening/testing program
  • Coordinates workers compensation investigations and conducts surveillance as needed
  • Conducts security audits at Company facilities and makes recommendations as necessary
  • Conducts / supports forensics audits of financial transactions and activities (e.g., project pricing, sales contracts, procurement activities, corporate expenses, etc.)
  • Safeguard assets from theft and misuse, ensure segregation of duties to minimize fraud, comply with business ethics, applicable laws and regulations, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and periodically reconcile physical assets to accounting records.


Required Skills
  • Thorough knowledge of investigation and security techniques.
  • General knowledge of criminal and civil statues at local, state and federal levels.
  • Technical Skills – Proficient in MS Office and other investigative software applications and computer tools.
  • Financial Analysis – Able to perform financial evaluations and draw conclusions from financial/business data; Exercises technical/professional judgment.
  • Solid knowledge of Company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications in conducting investigations and presenting findings to management.
  • Ability to work independently and use sound judgment in developing information and avoiding conflict; must sustain a good legal position for the Company.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and integrity in conducting investigations.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree. (Criminal Justice, Industrial Security, Human Resources, or Business preferred)
  • CFE, CPP, or other evidence of technical competence preferred
  • Educational or work experience in analytical analysis (e.g. finance, accounting, engineering, etc.) preferred
  • Able to obtain a concealed weapon permit and Private Investigators License with State of Michigan
  • Foreign language or international experience preferred
